Volunteer Opportunities

Career Transitions Center WM’s greatest asset is the time and talent of its trained volunteer workforce.  We are seeking individuals to help us deliver our mission in a variety of disciplines.  Assistance is needed in a number of different areas:

Career Coaches/Mentors – We are seeking seasoned professionals as volunteers to help those in job search and career transition.  The key qualities of a CTCwm coach include:

* Active Listener
* Strong Communicator
* Dynamic Motivator
* Professionals with experience as Hiring Managers, HR Professionals, and Professional Career Counselors

Building Skills Workshop Presenters – As part of the CTCwm program, clients are asked to attend four skill building workshops, facilitated by CTCwm coaches/mentors.  Topics include:

* "Know Yourself and Where You're Going" (1st in series)
* “Present Your Best Self in Writing [resumes & cover letters]" (2nd in series)
* "Networking: An Essential Tool for Career and Life" (3rd in series)
* "Awesome Interviewing & Confident Negotiating” (4th in series)

Weekly Peer Group Facilitators – Clients are encouraged to attend weekly peer group sessions. The groups are intended to help clients maintain progress in their job search efforts by sharing "Success Stories, Lessons Learned, and Best Practices," at a weekly check-in opportunity. Clients hold each other accountable, share ideas and leads, celebrate successes and encourage each other in times of rejection, disappointment or temporary malaise

Special Events and Projects – We are also seeking volunteers in a number of other disciplines.  We frequently need assistance with projects requiring expertise in the following areas; Graphic Design, Database Management, IT networking, Fundraising, Special Event Planning, Office Support/Greeters.

Internships – We have volunteer internships to assist our professional staff in marketing, web design, volunteer management, development and other areas. These are great opportunities to learn about and develop skills in the career services and nonprofit professions.

Leadership & Organization –  Do you want to bring special skills in organizing to your volunteering? We need volunteers to lead other volunteers in their good work. This is high impact, skilled volunteering for mature adults with lots of organizational life experience.
